Today has been mostly pre-production work. I’ve been working mainly on getting organised and ready to start recording next week. Things such as the risk assessment have been what I needed to work on. Working out what could possibly injure me or an actor is the aim of the game.

Today my team and I filmed the large majority of the scenes for my video. Filmed outside, in the photography studio and in the music studio. Encountered problems filming the radio studio and the theatre. The problem for the theatre was that it was in use the entire time. This therefore meant I was unable to do any filming in this location.  The radio studio however caused problems because my liaison at Metro Radio was unable to fit my group in to do any recording. We will have to reschedule this for another day, maybe next Monday.

The main thing learnt today has been camera skills and how to use a boom mic.

Today I took part in the re-recording of some of the scenes from last week. Upon review we realised that they were les than ideal for our purposes. IN other words there were problems. As such we resolved we needed to re-record them.  One of the problems was the white balance and contrast outside it totally ruined the shots there.  We decided to steer clear of outside in case it happened again. We recorded in the foyer instead. Roughly the same shots, just better!

Today I have been editing the basic structure of the video together. So far I’ve got most of the shots where I need them I just need to fine tune the timings. I had a problem at the start with the files being corrupted on the hard drive I was using. This took a good half an hour to solve but now it’s done I am much happier.

Final edits to the video including creating opening titles that fade into the first clip well.  I’ve also created closing ones.   I also editing music together to fit the video. So far I have 2 different versions. I’ll judge them later and choose my favourite

Today I judged which of the versions I created last time would be the best. I chose to use the one named “We are Wild”. I did however re-edit the music for it to fit it better and get the music to line up with the shots correctly.
I did encounter a brief problem where some of the files were missing. Thankfully I quickly located them and continued my work.

  1. Adam, you have produced a detailed skills development log highlighting weekly progress, problems encountered and how you overcame them, and a summary of your learning and skills development. Well done.
